We mainly collect data you give us or consent to. In addition, our servers record technical data, such as your IP address, to keep the site safe and working:

• Email address: when you sign up for our waitlist ("Notify me") or fill in our contact form.
• Your name and message: when you contact us via the contact form.
• Usage and advertising data (only with your consent): if you allow statistics and ads in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, and the Meta pixel to measure whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram work. Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. and we are jointly responsible for collecting and sending that data; after that, Meta also uses it for its own purposes, such as showing and improving ads (see Meta's privacy policy). With your consent, we show visitors of this site one of our ads up to 180 days later. If you follow or engage with our Instagram, Meta can show you one of our ads for up to 365 days, and we receive statistics about our page from Meta, without names. If you choose "Essential only", we don't load Google Analytics or the Meta pixel. We do always count, without cookies, how many visitors the site has (Vercel Analytics). The key arrangements between Meta and us are in Meta's Controller Addendum and, for page statistics, the Page Insights Controller Addendum. For what Meta itself does with your data, Meta is your point of contact; for everything else you can come to us, and we'll forward your request if needed.
• Opting out: you can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. You can also turn off personalised ads in your Meta ad preferences or at youronlinechoices.eu.

We never sell your data. Data for statistics and ads only goes to Google and Meta with your consent, as described above. For your app account we use Google Firebase (see "Who helps us").

• To notify you when our products launch (waitlist), only if you signed up.
• To reply to your message when you contact us.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• To measure our ads and show them to people they're relevant to, only with your consent.

Why we're allowed to

• Your account and subscription: because it's needed to provide the app to you (contract). If you're a minor, we also do this because we have a legitimate interest in you being able to use the app, and we keep only the minimum.
• Waitlist emails, statistics and measuring or showing ads: only with your consent. You can withdraw it anytime.
• Contact messages, security, technical logs and cookie-free visitor statistics: our legitimate interest in helping you and keeping the site safe and working.

We don't make decisions about you that are fully automated. You don't have to give us data, but without an email address you can't create an account.

Waitlist: until you unsubscribe, at most 12 months after the app launches. Contact messages: 12 months after our last contact. Your app account: as long as your account exists (see "Deleting your account"). Google Analytics: 14 months. Ad audiences at Meta: 180 days (website visitors and app users) or 365 days (Instagram). Technical logs: at most 30 days.

This part covers the app for iPhone and Android. The rest of this policy applies to the app as well.

• Your account: we store your email address, your password (encrypted), a user ID and your subscription status. You sign in with email, Apple or Google; if you sign in with Apple or Google, they give us your email address and possibly your name. This data is held by Google Firebase. When you start, the app asks for your name and date of birth; these stay on your phone. We only use your age to check whether you can use the app (13 and over) and whether we may ask for your consent to measure ads.
• What you enter: check-ins, injuries, mood, your Game Plan and everything else you track in the app stays on your own phone. We don't store it and can't see it.
• Measuring ads: if you're 16 or older and you give consent, the app lets Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. know that you installed and opened the app, created an account, finished onboarding and started a trial or subscription. That's how we see which ads work, and whether to show you our ads or not (for example, no ad for the app if you already have it). Meta also uses this data for its own purposes. If you're under 16, this never happens and the app doesn't talk to Meta. You can withdraw your consent anytime in the app (Profile → Privacy & support). The key arrangements between Meta and us are in Meta's Controller Addendum and, for page statistics, the Page Insights Controller Addendum. For what Meta itself does with your data, Meta is your point of contact; for everything else you can come to us, and we'll forward your request if needed.
• Payments: subscriptions run through Apple or Google. We don't see your payment details, only whether your subscription is active.

Deleting your account

• In the app: Profile → Privacy & support → Manage account → Delete account.
• Without the app: email info@buildyourballer.com from the email address on your account. We'll delete your account within 30 days.

We delete your email address and password right away. We keep your user ID and subscription status only until your subscription with Apple or Google ends, then we delete those too. Anything on your phone is removed when you delete the app.

Please note: deleting your account doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.

You can always ask us to:

• see your data or get a copy, including in a file you can take with you;
• correct or delete your data;
• temporarily do less with your data;
• stop something we do based on our legitimate interest (object);
• withdraw your consent. What we did before that stays valid.

If you're under 16, your parent or guardian can also ask on your behalf.

If you disagree with us, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

We work with a few services that process data for us. We make agreements with them, as the GDPR requires.

• Google Firebase: your account in the app (Europe, partly US).
• Vercel: hosting the site, cookie-free visitor statistics and technical logs (EU and US).
• Supabase: our waitlist.
• Resend: sending emails.
• Google Analytics and Meta: only with your consent (US).
• Our marketing agency, which manages our ads.

Apple and Google handle payments and sign-in and are responsible for that themselves.

When data goes to the US, this happens under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

BYB is built for footballers aged 13 and over. Under 13? Then you can't use the app. For your account we only keep what's needed to make the app work: your email address, your password (encrypted), a user ID and your subscription status. Everything you enter in the app stays on your own phone.

If you're under 16, the app never measures anything for ads and we don't ask for consent to do so. On this website, we ask you to choose "Essential only". We recommend installing the app together with a parent or guardian. If you're under 16, your parent or guardian can also have your account deleted by emailing info@buildyourballer.com.

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Major changes will be communicated via email to subscribers.
